A highly popular store manager within the centre, Lyndsay Hogg is shaving her hair as part of the ‘Brave the Shave’ campaign to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Lyndsay tells us about the campaign and why she is taking part.
The aim is to stand proudly alongside people with cancer whilst raising money so Macmillan Cancer Support can help people take control back from cancer.
Fortunately I have not been directly affected by cancer but, like a lot of people, we all know someone who has been and if the statistics are to go by 1 in 3 of us will suffer from the illness. I read about the campaign and it was something I wanted to get involved in – to help play my part.
A lot of my customers, friends and family ask me if I am nervous but I’m actually quite excited! It’s just hair and it should take about a year to grow back.
To date I have raised £650 for the charity and I would like to raise over a £1,000. It costs £1,020 to fund a nurse for a week.
The nurses provide much needed support not just to patients but to their family and friends and act as a crucial support system.
